Carlsen's Greatest Hits (and Flops) from the World Blitz Championship
Let's learn from the GOAT.
It’s not only Magnus Carlsen’s games that are worth looking at, and I may produce further posts on the 2022 World Blitz Championship. But Carlsen was the winner, after all, and in going through his games for a long series (nine videos) for ChessLecture.com I was amazed at how well he played, and even more than that how he managed to win game after game against elite opposition - players like Fabiano Caruana and Jan-Krzysztof Duda, for starters - from what practically everyone in the world would consider dead drawn positions. He didn’t win every game, but he won a lot of them and he won when it mattered. There are many lessons to learn if we take a deep look, and I would encourage you to analyze his games slowly and carefully on your own. (You might also get a membership on ChessLecture.com and take a look at my videos, where I go into greater detail. They’re starting to be posted, and will be released one by one this month and possibly going into February as well.)
Here are all 21 of his games, with comments.
