Last week was the West’s Easter, this week it’s the East’s. (It’s a little wacky, and hopefully someday all the old calendar people will go Gregorian. For now, it’s not quite a case of East and West shall never meet - they’ll be in sync in 2034 - but not until then. Next year will be rather extreme, with Catholic and Protestant Easter taking place on March 31 and Orthodox Easter on May 5!) Anyway, happy Easter to my Orthodox readers - Christos Anesti!
A little more reading material. First, in the Orthodox church the Easter homily is always from St. John Chrysostom (the rest of the time Orthodox churches, like all other churches, have the priest/pastor deliver his own thoughts), and you can read it here.
Two other pieces that came to my attention last week, but after writing my Western Easter post, are here and here. Enjoy, and again, Happy Easter!
