The last several days I have had a bunch of family members visit, and will have more of the same over the next week or so. I’m also doing some preparation for the upcoming academic year, so I won’t be doing much blogging until September 7 or 8. After that, normal service shall resume.
Nevertheless, I would be remiss if I didn’t alert you that the annual festivities in St. Louis are underway, beginning with the St. Louis Rapid & Blitz. It’s a familiar format: 10 players, so nine rounds of rapid (three games a day, starting today and continuing through the weekend) followed by 18 rounds of blitz (a double round-robin, with the first on Monday and the second, with all the colors reversed, the next day). And once that’s over, they jump into classical chess with the Sinquefield Cup.
Event website here. I’ll see you occasionally over the next week and a half, and then everything should return to normal. Please hang in there - especially those of you who are new to the site. (And thank you.)
