The tournament had been averaging two wins per day, but perhaps they were a little tired after their fifth straight day of play, lacking that bit of extra energy needed heading into the rest day. All five games were drawn—fighting draws, though, with none shorter than 45 moves. There were no egregious misses that I noticed, though, with only Nodirbek Abdusattorov enjoying - briefly - what might be considered a decisive advantage in his game with Bogdan-Daniel Deac.
The round took place on Sunday; Monday was a rest day, and they’ll resume action on Tuesday. Fabiano Caruana, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave remain the co-leaders with +1 scores.
Here are today’s games, with my comments.
