Having received a recent mention by Ben Johnson (thank you!), I will now make up where I have been remiss and mention his deservedly popular Perpetual Chess Podcast. He’s up to 292 episodes, and the topics and guests have been diverse. (You can find a list, sorted into general categories, here.) For those who are especially interested in interviews with top players, you’re in luck: his guests include superstars like Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Gelfand, Peter Svidler, Hikaru Nakamura, Judit Polgar, Rustam Kasimdzhanov, Gata Kamsky, Michael Adams, and Jan Timman.
But it’s not just top players (of whom the foregoing make up only a fraction of his total guest list): there are chess authors, chess historians, streamers/YouTubers, and plenty more. If you’re interested in chess personalities and not just the game itself, you’ll want to check it out.
Thanks Dennis, appreciate it! As a long time reader of yours I was glad when you moved over to substack, because I can get your posts emailed to me. With my new chess link curation project here I likely will be linking to you frequently.
