Leonard Barden, who may have started writing his column for the Guardian during the Lincoln administration (I’m kidding - his 63-year tenure(!!) “only” goes back to the Eisenhower administration in the U.S., and the Macmillan administration in the U.K.), has a nice article on seven-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan. (Secret weapon: “anand” in her name, like Praggnanandhaa or that other guy, Viswanathan something-or-other.) She got off to a terrific start in the British Open Rapid championships, starting off with 4/5 against a series of opponents that included a couple of 2100s and a 2200 before finally being tamed - with great difficulty - by GM Keith Arkell in the penultimate round.
More here, and the rest of Barden’s column is interesting as well.
